Married Lester Leroy Rhodes (4 Sep 1898 - 28 Aug 1937) on 10 Mar 1923; with whom she is buried.
By 1930 they were still in Dixon, with Lester (31, IL) working as a bookkeeper in a bakery, Julia (29, IL) and sons Harold L. (6) and John F. (8 mos). Her sister-in-law Winifred was the enumerator.
She is listed as Julia E. Rhodes (39, IL) and widowed in 1940 working as a hair dresser in her own beauty shop, which she and her sister Clare owned. With her are sons Harold (16) and John (10), along with her widowed aunt Nora Hauger (60, IL). Her son, John Frederick Rhodes died 30 Jan 1947 of a lingering illness.
On 7 Nov 1951 Julia was remarried to Rev. Joseph C. McMahon in the Elmhurst Evangelical United Brethren parsonage. They then settled in Tonica, where he had previously been pastor of the Methodist parsonage for 11 years.
