Mrs John F. Wells, 83, died at 8:30 this morning in her home at 319 Chamberlin St, after a lingering illness. She was born Jeanette Alice Hauger in Terre Haute, Ind., on April 26, 1873. She is survived by five sons and four daughters. Sons are Ira and Samuel, both of Dixon; John, Rockford; Clyde, Harmon; and Warren, Franklin Grove. Daughters are Clare, at home in Dixon; Mrs. Lora Dusing, Polo; Mrs. Julia McMahon, Danville; and Mrs. Emmogene Buck, Peoria. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and four sons and three daughters. Funeral services will be held at Buckley Staples Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Joseph C. McMahon officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call Monday and Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

JOHN WELLS WAS LAID TO REST IN PLOT IN OAKWOOD - Assemblage Gathered at Rite of Popular Dixon Farmer
Funeral services for the late John F Wells was held at the country home, southwest of Dixon, Thursday. Rev. James A Barnett, pastor of the First Christian church, was in charge of the funeral rites. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.
Obituary
John Franklin Wells was born December 9, 1866, at Bloomington, departed this life March 6, 1934 at his home near Dixon. He was the oldest of three children born to Richard and Cassandra Wells, who died while he was yet a small boy. He then was taken into the care of his grandparents, with whom he lived till early manhood in McLean county. He followed the vocation of electrician for several years, then he took up farming which he followed the last thirty years of his life.
Father of Large Family
On July 20, 1890, he was united in marriage to Jeannette Hauger of McLean, III. To this union were born sixteen children, of whom twelve survive. Two children, Jeannette and Lamar died in infancy and later Edna and Grover, husband of Mrs. Winifred Wells, who resides in this city. The surviving children are; Warren, Paul, Clare and Clyde, at home; Ira, Azel, John Jr., Mrs. Julia Rhodes, Mrs. Emmagene Grover, of Dixon; Mrs. Lora Dusing, Mrs. Luella Bowers and Samuel Wells, of Polo. He is also survived by sixteen grand-children. He was a good citizen, an accommodating neighbor and a kind and loving father, and will be greatly missed in the home circle and community. A host of friends join in extending warmest sympathy to the sorrowing widow and loved ones.
