Pecatonica - Mrs. Clyde (Delta Irene) Wells, 68, 441 W. Seventh St., Pecatonica, died Wednesday in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Wells was born Jan. 27, 1910, Lee County, the daughter of Fred Clarence (1870-1937) and Liz (Sindel) Fitts. She lived for 20 years in the Pecatonica area, coming here from Harmon, and was married to Clyde E. Wells, Kahoka, Missouri Aug. 26, 1942.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pecatonica, and attended Dixon area schools.
Wells was preceded in death by a brother and her parents.
Survivors include her husband Clyde, Pecatonica; daughters Mrs. Harold (Bonnie Kay) Hayes, Mrs. Earnest (Sandra) Hayes, Pecatonica; six grandchildren; sisters Mrs. Theodore (Esther) Schulte, Mrs. Erma Roberts, and brother Charlie Fitts, all of Dixon.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the Kenneth L. Countryman Funeral Home, Pecatonica, with Rev. Albert Schneipp and Rev. Cecil Dallas officiating, both pastors of United Methodist Larger Parish, Pecatonica. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Cemetery, Pecatonica. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Saturday. A memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Working as a freight handler (28, IL) for the railroad in Rockford in 1930, renting a room.
He appears to be listed in Harmon in 1940, married (38, IL) but with his family not listed. And had the family of Edwin Knapp living with him as boarders.
He advertised his search for help with tractor farm work in the Dixon Telegraph in 1947, while living in Harmon. In Jan 1948, it notes that Clyde Wells had returned from a trip to Excelsior Springs, MO.
There is a reference to Mr. and Mrs Clyde Wells of Harmon attending a birthday party in the 3 Feb 1948 edition of the Dixon Telegraph, then their attending a Palm Sunday dinner as Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Wells and daughters in 1949. In May 1950, he was selling his John Deere tractor and plow equipment. Then in Aug 1955 Mr. & Mrs. Clyde Wells of Harmon attended a surprise birthday party for Mrs. Clarence Morns in Franklin Grove.

Pecatonica - Clyde E. Wells, 77, formerly of Harmon, died Wednesday night at Americana Nursing Center, Rockford, following a long illness. He was a farmer before retiring.
He was born March 6, 1902 in Atlanta, to Mr. And Mrs. John F. Wells. He was married to Delta Irene Fitts Aug. 26, 1942, in Kahoka, Miss., and she died Feb. 1, 1978.
Wells was a member of the United Methodist Church here.
