Son of James T. Peck and Maude Jarrell.
It was rumored they were divorced before he died in a tragic truck/train crash in 1940. But The Republic of Columbus, IN stated in the 14 March 1939 edition, on page 1 that “Mrs. Vivian Peck has dismissed her divorce complaint against Jarrell J. Peck.” And his death certificate lists Vivian as his wife.

Vehicle Burns After Crash With Train - Companion Expires in Hospital.
Jarrel Peck, 27. of Waldron, husband of a local woman, was burned to death and Hal Wagoner, 49, another Waldron resident, was injured fatally yesterday in a train-truck crash which occurred on road 67 in the vicinity qf Lyons. Besides his relatives in Shelby county, Peck is survived by his wife, Mrs. Vivian Wells Peck, daughter of Charles Wells of this city, "and their 3-year-old daughter. Mrs. Peck and child are living in Columbus. Peck and his wife have been estranged and he has been paying support money in Bartholomew circuit court for the child. The fatal accident occurred during a fog which residents of Lyons described as being the heaviest they had seen in years.
Peck Went Along For Ride -
Wagoner was driving a truck-trailer of the G. Reece Canning company of Waldron, enroute to St. Louis, Mo, with a shipment of canned pumpkin. It was reported at Waldron that Peck went along for the ride. The truck crashed into the side of a freight train on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific line about 8:30 o'clock last night and burst into flames.
Members of the train crew pulled Wagoner out of the wreckage and he ws taken to a hospital in Lintoh, where he died, at 9. o'clock. The charred body of Peck was found in the wreckage after the fire had subsided. The body was not identified until word could be obtained from Waldron.
Wagoner Father of Three -
Wagoner had been a truck driver for the Reece Company for a number of years. He was a son of Hanagan Wagoner. He leaves the wife and three children; Mrs. Leo Lux, of Prescotit, another daughter, and a son, 14 years old. Wagoner's wife was taken Linton last night, after being informed of the accident, but she did not know at the time of her departure that Wagoner had died.
Peck, a Waldron high school graduate, was a son of Mrs. Maude Peck. His father, James Peck, died a number of years ago.

She had daughter Sandra while unmarried, and filed a paternity suit against Hubert Cook for support in 1934.
She married Jarrell Peck in 1936, then was widowed and living with her parents in 1940, with daughters Sandra Jo Wells (5, IN) and Martha Lee Peck (2, IN).
She was later (re)married to Hubert “Dube” Snoddy in Indianapolis and moved to Paxton, IL around 1949-1950. Dube and Vivian ran a successful Bowling Alley and Bar business in Paxton Illinois for about 24 years. Illness caused them to sell the Bowling Alley around 1973 (the year before her death).

Vivian Snoddy, 57 of Paxon, IL a Columbus native, died at 4 a m. Wednesday at Mercy hospital in Urbana, IL, after a long illness. She was the sister of Kathryn Slemp of 2239 Home, Clara Embry of 1235 25th and Charles R. Wells of Grandview Lake. Mrs. Snoddy was born Nov 6, 1916 in Columbus to Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Wells. Also surviving are her husband, Hubert Snoddy; her mother, Martha Hensley of Paxton. IL; two daughters, Sandra Jo Young and Martha L. Litral [sic], both of Paxton, IL: two other sisters, Mildred Knight of Clear Water, FL, and Evelyn Harden of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren and a great grandchild.
