Listed in the 1938 & 1948 Bloomington city directories with his first wife Beatrice. In the 1940 census he is indexed as Herbert Snoddy (25, IN) a bookkeeper with wife Beatrice (34, IN) and children William (10) and Rebecca (8) all born in Indiana and living in the same place in 1935. Since the children are too old to be his, they must be from her prior marriage. Their daughter Patty was then born about 1948, as she was in the High School class of 1964. She is noted in his obituary as Patty Wood.

Hubert Snoddy
PAXTON - Hubert "Dube" Snoddy, 73, of Watseka and formerly of Paxton, died at 1 a.m. Monday (Nov. 24, 1986) at Iroquois Memorial Hospital, Watseka. His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ford-Baier Funeral Home, Paxton, with the Rev. Harold Bodeen officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Snoddy was born June 12, 1913, in Bloomington, Ind., a son of Hubert and Sarah Snoddy. He married Vivian Wells June 27, 1951, in Williamsport, Ind. She died Sept. 4, 1974. Surviving are three daughters, Sandy Young, Rantoul; Martha Luttrell, Paxton; and Patty Wood, Martinsville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Four brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Mr. Snoddy graduated from high school in Bloomington, Ind., and from Indiana University at age 19 in accounting. He worked as a certified public accountant for many years. From 1951 to 1973, he owned the Paxton Bowling Lanes. He was a member of the Paxton Bowling Hall of Fame and was active with the Paxton Swedes baseball team for many years. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

She had daughter Sandra while unmarried, and filed a paternity suit against Hubert Cook for support in 1934.
She married Jarrell Peck in 1936, then was widowed and living with her parents in 1940, with daughters Sandra Jo Wells (5, IN) and Martha Lee Peck (2, IN).
She was later (re)married to Hubert “Dube” Snoddy in Indianapolis and moved to Paxton, IL around 1949-1950. Dube and Vivian ran a successful Bowling Alley and Bar business in Paxton Illinois for about 24 years. Illness caused them to sell the Bowling Alley around 1973 (the year before her death).

Vivian Snoddy, 57 of Paxon, IL a Columbus native, died at 4 a m. Wednesday at Mercy hospital in Urbana, IL, after a long illness. She was the sister of Kathryn Slemp of 2239 Home, Clara Embry of 1235 25th and Charles R. Wells of Grandview Lake. Mrs. Snoddy was born Nov 6, 1916 in Columbus to Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Wells. Also surviving are her husband, Hubert Snoddy; her mother, Martha Hensley of Paxton. IL; two daughters, Sandra Jo Young and Martha L. Litral [sic], both of Paxton, IL: two other sisters, Mildred Knight of Clear Water, FL, and Evelyn Harden of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren and a great grandchild.
