Misc. Notes
Jacob Nelson Weegar of Toronto married Elizabeth Louisa Harden from Prince Edward Island. He met her while working on the railroad. Her family was monied, and opposition to union ensued. They married, moved to Lakewood, Ohio and had Stanton Nelson Weegar, Zella M. Weegar Lawrence, Pearl Weegar Wanamaker, Alice Weegar Hogarth and Grace Weegar Hopkins Vale.
In 1920 they are living in Cleveland, with Nelson working as a carpenter (56, CAN) with wife Elizabeth (59, CAN). Listed with them as lodgers, but obviously family are children Stanton Weegar (22, CAN) and Zella M. Weegar (19, CAN) as well as Lovena Carpenter (48, CAN) his widowed sister. A Sara E. Hogarth (21, CAN) is also living with them, so it is unclear whether she is actually Alice or a sister of the Hogarth whom Alice married. The census also lists the years each of them immigrated and their citizenship status, showing Nelson immigrating in 1900 and Elizabeth in 1890, both becoming citizens in 1910, the rest still aliens.
In 1917 he applied for citizenship, and stated that he immigrated thru Niagara Falls on 22 July 1905.
