Listed in 1850 as Mary Culver (27, OH), wife of Chauncy Culver (28, OH) a blacksmith. With children Eliza Jane (5), Alvira E. (1847-1939), and Watson Burs (1).
Following Chauncy’s death in 1852, she was remarried to William Gaddis in 1854, and started a second family with him.
They are indexed in 1860 as Gadleus. The family consisted of Wm (34, OH) wife Mary A (35, OH) and children Mary E (4, IA), Sarah S. (3, OH), Ruth A (1, OH) and Chancy L (1 mo, OH). Also included are two daughters from her former marriage, Eliza J Culver (15, OH) and Elmira E. Culver (13, OH).

Henry and Mary apparently had a second son after arriving in Ohio. Wm. Gaddis (27, OH) is listed in the 1850 census with them, which matches the 1830 & 1840 census data for Henry.
His marriage record to Mary Ann Culver is listed under William Geddes in 1854.

He is listed in Morrow Co in 1863 when he registered for the Civil War Draft, age 37, a farmer born in Ohio.

Wm Gaddis is listed in Fulton Co, OH in 1870, listed as a farmer (43, OH) with wife Mary (45, OH) and children Mary E. (14), Sarah (12), Ruth (10), and Chancy (10).
By 1880 they had moved to Williams county, and are listed as William Gaddis (54, OH) with wife Mary A. (57, OH) with her parents born in NJ and VA. Only son Chancy L. (20, OH) is still living with them. It appears that Mary’s health is listed as poor - rheum.
After Mary’s death, he is listed in the 1885 Iowa census living with the family of his daughter, Mary E. Lantz (28, OH), where he is widowed (57, OH).
In 1900 he is listed as a day laborer, widowed (May 1926, OH) and a boarder living with the Reese family.
The GAR burial record the next year lists him as having been a Private in Co. C, 85th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry (4 July 1862-23 Sept 1862)
