Kathleen Pearl Wells, age 71 of Loudonville, Ohio, loving spouse of David Wells, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Ashland, Ohio. She was born in Shawnee, Ohio to the late Betty Kathleen (Harris) Jewitt and Pearl Jewitt on October 18, 1944.
Kathleen was a graduate of Shawnee High School, then married Daniel Dean Ashbaugh on October 18, 1963. They moved to Ashland, Ohio in 1980 along with their three children. They remained in Ashland until Daniel’s death in 1997.
On July 29, 2005 Kathleen married David Wells of Loudonville, Ohio and the two shared a loving relationship of mutual care and support until her death.
Kathleen, often referred to as Kathy or Cappy by family and friends, was known for her love of family and friends, quick wit, compassionate words, and indomitable spirit throughout her life. She loved dogs and doted on “her boys” Blaze and Butch. Her backyard, where she spent most warm days, with family was a bird viewer’s dream. Her family will always remember her love of gathering the family and making sure that everyone was served and fed before herself. They recall her talent for playing piano and decorating the homes in which her family lived. Known for her sense of humor, Kathleen could always see her way through the darkest of days and find the light with laughter.
Kathleen is survived by husband David Wells; children and grandchildren: Nicholas (Robbi) Ashbaugh, Jackson, Owen, and Alicen of Jackson, Tennessee; Angela (Jeff) Finn, Gabriel, Parry, and Keeleigh of Kent, Ohio; and David (Michelle) Ashbaugh, Sydney Kathleen, and Alec of Ashland, Ohio.
Kathleen was preceded in death by husband, Daniel Dean Ashbaugh; mother, Betty Kathleen Jewitt; brother, John Jewitt; and father Pearl Jewitt along with her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Gathering will be held from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Ashland Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland where a Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m.
