She married William Osborn Winters (27 Apr 1857-10 Mar 1914) on 6 Jan 1892, and moved to New York the next year.
Katie and Osborn are in Oswegatchie, NY in 1900, where he was a farm laborer, and they had 2 boarders.
Listed as Katie M. Winters in the 1910 NY census, head of household, a dressmaker (51, CAN) married 18 yrs. His death is recorded in Madison, Lenawee Co, MI in 1914 although he is listed as Osburn Winters on FindaGrave in St. John's Lutheran cemetery, Riverside Heights, Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry United Counties, Ontario, Canada.
Katie then married James David Mcclain (1856-1940) on 23 Dec 1918 in Morgan Co, OH. She is found in the 1920 census as Catherine Mcclain (61, CA) a naturalized US citizen, and her husband is listed in the Morgan County Infrimary in 1930 as being “widowed”.
However, she was actually married a thrid time to Richard J. Shewood (1862-1958) in Cobleskill, NY on 11 Aug 1923, and is then listed with him in the 1925, 1930 and 1940 census records there as Catherine Sherwood - as referenced in her sister Eva’s obituary.
In 1891, she is listed with her brother Frank.
