Betty C. Wells, 89, of Dixon, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Franklin Grove Living and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin Grove, IL surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 12, 1929 in Dixon, the daughter of Harry and Gladys (Sitter) Potter.
Betty was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed traveling, garage sales, antiques and most of all spending time with her family.
She married Samuel Wells Jr. on November 20, 1948 in Morrison. A party was held in October of 2018 to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary.
Betty was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the family business Wells Automotive- Wells Diesel. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Dixon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Gerald "Jerry" Wells; step-mother, Grace (Dewey) Potter; sister, Joyce Parke; brother, Harry Potter Jr; sister-in-law, Betty J. Wells and great-great-grandson, Dawson Hess-Glenn.
Betty's survivors include her husband; three daughters, Carlene (Bob) Augustine, Joy (Owen) Jones and Julie (Richard) McGrail; 16 grandchildren, Angela Potter, Stephanie Glenn, Amy Rhodenbaugh, Susan Sperling, Jason Potter, Holly Gleissner, Patrick Jones, Heather Tilsy, Brian Jones, Jeremy Jones, Jenelle Jones, Sarah Wells, Kristi Wells, Samantha Wiersema, Andrea Hey and Matthew McGrail; 34 great- grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; step-sister, Thelma (Ken) Niles; sister-in-law, Kathy Potter; brother-in-law, Wayne Wells and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 8, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Dixon, IL, with the Pastor Bunyan Cocar, officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon, IL.
