Betty Jean Wells, age 71, of Belvidere, IL passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at Serenity Home & Hospice in Oregon.
Betty was born Dec. 26, 1940 in Dixon, IL daughter of Max and Barbara (nee Higgins) Oliphant. She graduated from Dixon High School in 1958. She married Wayne R. Wells on Feb. 20, 1960, in Rockford. She enjoyed raising her family and her cats. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, mother-in-law, aunt and friend.
Survivors include husband, Wayne; one daughter, Paula Wells of Belvidere; one son, Jeffrey R. Wells and daughter-in-law, Debbie Miller of Colorado Springs, CO; mother, Barbara Oliphant; one sister, Maxine Porter; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sam and Betty Wells of Dixon. She is also survived by three aunts; one uncle; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her loving cat, Ruffles.
Betty was predeceased by grandparents, Vern and Lillian Higgins; and father, Max Oliphant.
Graveside services at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon, with the Rev. Frank Langhoff, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dixon, officiating.
