Maxine Setliff McGaughey,81 was born in Henry County and lived most of her life in Greensboro. She passed away on June 5, 2018.
Maxine is survived by her children, Vicki Wells (Mike) Iddings, Lisa Wells (Craig) Pannell; grandchildren, Courtney Iddings (Ron) Peters, Jake Iddings, Amber Mann Greeson, Ashley Mann, Cabe Pannell, Kendrick Pannell and great grandchildren, Jennifer Greeson, Riley and Rowan Peters and brother Jerry (Martha) Koontz. Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, William Arthur McGaughey and son Richard L. Wells, Jr. Rick, and parents Lester Ivan Setliff and Pauline Wood Koontz.
Her love for family was truly remarkable, her favorite time was spent surrounded by her grandchildren and great children.
She was known by her neighbors at the Carillion as the cheerleader. She was always joyful and encouraging, and she enjoyed music and singing with their Glee club.
Maxi was a long-time member of Lawndale Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. She sang in the senior choir, and often performed solos.
She was an active member and very close to the Southern Belles Red Hat Club ladies.
She will truly be missed by her family and her friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday on June 8, at Lawndale Baptist Church with visitation to follow and a 2:00 burial at Lakeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to Lawndale Baptist Church, 3505 Lawndale Drive, 27408 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Avenue, 27405.

RICHARD LEON WELLS, SR.
GREENSBORO
Richard Leon Wells, Sr. "Dick," 78, was born in Winston-Salem and lived most of his life in Greensboro. He passed away on December 24th at Hospice Home at High Point after a short battle with cancer. Dick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Kathryn (M.K.) Wells; children, Vicki (Mike) Iddings, Richard Wells, Jr. "Rick" and Lisa (Craig) Pannell; grandchildren, Courtney (Ronnie) Peters, Jake Iddings, Amber (Vance) Greeson, Ashley Mann, Cabe Pannell, Kendrick Pannell and great grandson, Riley Peters. Also surviving is sister, Nina (Calvin) Cooper. He was predeceased by his parents, Alonzo Wells and Annie Pearl Wells and brother, Howard (Polly) Wells.
Dick never met a stranger, always had a joke to tell, and truly enjoyed people, especially at his and M.K.'s legendary Christmas party. The Dick Wells Band set the stage for local and surrounding area events for more than 30 years. Dick also served as the President of the local musicians' union. Dick attended North Carolina State College. He took pride in his work as a mechanical engineer and as a CAD operator. He was employed by McMinn, Norfleet & Wicker, Ernest G. Myatt and Associates, and Burlington Industries. Dick's accomplishments included contributions to local landmarks such as the Greensboro Coliseum and the Downtown.
