Married Caroline Jackson (1822 NJ-1860), and his mother lived with him in 1850 in Howell twp. Their chilldren were Charles and James M. In 1860, the wife and children were in Ocean twp or Monmouth county, and Joseph and his mother were in Howell twp. The reason for the family division is not known - possible divorce or separation. Later records indicate Joseph married (2) Margaret Bastedo (1834 NJ - 1909), and their children include: George H., Alfred L., and William B. (Granville Hough)

Joseph VanNote
Joseph VanNote of Farmingdale died on Thursday, July 21st. He had suffered with rheumatism for a long time and this disease caused his death. Mr. VanNote was born September 21st, 1819, and was 78 years old. His first wife was Miss Mary Ann Jackson, by whom he had two children, George and James VanNote, both of whom live at Asbury Park. His second wife was Miss Margaret A. Bastedo, and she, with three sons, survives him.
