FROM GRANVILLE HOUGH:
"Daniel Van Note served in the War of 1812 as a pvt in Capt. James Newell's Company, Col. S.W. Frelinghuysen's NJ Militia from 17 Sep 1814 until 6 Dec 1814 at Camp Jersey City. Daniel later lived in Howell twp or Monmouth Co., NJ. On 30 Jan 1803 in Monmouth Co., Daniel married Mary Hannah Burdge (1783 NJ - after 1860), with Rev. Joseph Love performing the marriage. Daniel made his will 25 Jan 1832, and it was probated 17 Oct 1832 in Monmouth Co. He designated Mary to receive all her legacies from her father and all her possessions by common law. His children then received equally, except for Joseph, who received a gun in addition. (Daniel may have had debts which wiped out most of his estate, as part or all of his land was auctioned 7 Oct 1833). Mary in 1855 received BLWT 40055-160-55 for Daniel's services during the War of 1812. Joseph Burdge, John C. Jones, Adam Wooley, and Ellen J. Estel supported Mary in her bounty land application. "
