His father was Henry Devoe, born 25 Sept 1793 in Genesse Co, NY to John Devoe and Helen Godwin DeVoe (Johns.) Henry DeVoe married Hannah Allen on 18 Dec 1814.

Following his death, Margaret is listed under her maiden name in her parent's household in 1860 with the two youngest boys.
She married (2nd) Sullivan J. Devoe on 4 Sep 1861. Sullivan was b. 5 Feb 1821 Courtland Co, NY and d. 24 Apr 1892 Lone Tree and had 5 children from his previous marriage, plus 10 more with Margaret. The original 5 were Allen, Sarah, Ellen, Flora, and Mosier; and children with Margaret were Anne, Richard “Henry”, Elvina, Mary, George Alfred, Hannah “Charlotte”, Lillian, Juliette Rachel, Margaret “Maggie”, and Henry.
They are listed in the 1880 Lone Tree census, with Richard (17), George Alfred (13), Charlotte (11) and Margaret (6), along with Anna (26) and W. Franklin Lutz (24) from her previous marriage.

"Margaret Huskins Devoe died at her residence in Lone Tree Oct. 29th, 1901 in her 72nd year. Margaret Huskins was born Jan 21st, 1830 in Uniontown Penn., the daughter of Hon. Richard and Charlotte Huskins of that place and later a prominent and early pioneer of Johnson Co., and came to Iowa in 1858. She was twice married, her first husband being Dr. John Lutz of Uniontown, Penn., he dying April 22nd, 1858 leaving her with three living children [line missing] Georgia, Frank, and John Lutz of this place and James who died in infancy in Sept 4th 1861. She [unreadable] married S. J. Devoe of Lone Tree who came to Johnson Co. from New York in 1855 . To them were born eight children--Richard Henry, Elvira Elizabeth, Mary A (deceased), George Alfred, Hannah Charlotte, Lillian (deceased), Juliette (deceased), and Margaret. She was also a mother to the family of S. J. Devoe by his first wife Elvira E Williams who died Sept 14 1860 leaving four children Sarah, Allen, Ellah and Florence."
