He had a sister and his brothers Herman and Iver had a shipping business in Skien.
After initially immigrating from Norway aboard the Thingvalla from Denmark to New York in 1882, he then went to Chicago, where he married Minnie. He and his brother, Iver, then migrated to Nome, ND, where they had adjoining farms.
His ND Naturalization Records (Barnes Co, Book 2, Page 78) dated 13 May 1884 list him as Charles Jacobsen.
Listed in 1900 as Carl, a farmer (51, NOR) who immigrated in 1882. His wife had recently died, so he was the widower father of his 7 children.
Listed in 1910 as a farmer (61, NOR) who immigrated in 1882, with only 5 children still at home. He lived in Thordenskjold Twp, Barnes County, ND. He is buried at Waldheim Cemetery near Kathryn, ND. He and brother Iver were instrumental in establishing the Waldheim Lutheran Church.

DIED AT THE HOSPITAL
Carl Jacobson, one of the prominent citizens of Nome, N, D. passed away this morning at one of the local hospitals at the age of 65 years. Cancer is the cause of his death.
The deceased was one of the best known residents of the southern part of Barnes county and the news of his death will be learned with keen regret by all who knew him.
The remains will be shipped to Nome tomorrow by Undertakers Gaard & Son, where the funeral will be held
Sunday.
