He was baptized on 12 May 1909 in Grace Church of Honesdale by Rector Albert L. Whittslar, with his parents and Charles Grant Tallman as sponsors.
He is listed with his parents in 1900 at age 7 and at age 17 in the 1910 census. Although his birth is listed as 1891 on the WWI draft registration and SSDI.

A shootlng accident occurred on Monday afternoon In which Walter Tallman, son of Perry Tallman, received slight injuries. It appears that the Tallman lad and Edward Weist, both of whom are but 15 years of age, were hunting ohipmunks. Weist had tbe revolver and as tbe boys were walking alongside a stone wall, Weist fell, which dlscharged tbe firearm. The bullet lodged in the calf of Tallman's left leg, taking a downward course. Young Tallman walked from the scene of the accident, whioh was nearly a mile from Dr. P. B. Peterson’s office, where be had the wound dressed. Dr. F. W. Powell assisted Dr. Petersen to locate the missile with the aid of tbe X-ray. The bullet was near the bone in three lnches of flesh.
In 1910, at age 17 he and his brother Guy are both listed as glass cutters, along with a boarder from Germany who is age 20 and also a glass cutter.
His daughter Betty wrote: Walter left home at the age of 16 to pursue the cut glass trade in New York where he did glass cutting in the window of Tiffany's(?). Worked for Corning Glass in Bowling Green, OH. Then Toledo, OH and next to Reno, NV in 1911 where he lived with his uncle (Sidney Ferdella) “Dell” Tallman and took up farming.
He moved to Los Angeles to continue the glass trade and married Alice there. He and Alice were married in Los Angeles on 16 Aug 1913 (a letter from her Rebekah Lodge erroneously says it was 11 Aug 1913 in Reno NV.), they returned to Reno and then moved to San Francisco, CA.
The 1920 census shows them living at 1105 Bush St in San Francisco with Evelyn (5) and Dorothy (3). He was indexed as Walker Tallman. They returned to Reno and then to Doyle, CA. They moved back to Reno again and he worked for the S.P. railroad as a baggageman and was a mattress maker before owning his business in Tents and Awnings in Reno in 1925. Was president of Aerie #207 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Reno in 1929/30, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. In the 1930 census he is indexed as Wattie Tallman, and they are living at 128 Stevenson St in Reno with all 3 daughters and Frank A. Robb is staying with them. Still lived on Stevenson St, Reno in 1944. From 1944 until his retirement in 1965 he worked in the Ready-Mix concrete business. When they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1963, they were living on Kirman Ave. After Alice's death in 1969, Walter was married (2nd) to Eulia Liddell in 1970 and was divorced in 1972; their marriage record lists them both as residents of Nebraska. He then moved to Sunnyvale, CA.
He lived with his daughter Betty's family from then until he moved into a retirement home around 1978. After Betty's death in 1983 he moved to Los Angeles where his remaining daughter, Dorothy, could look after him in a retirement home there. The following year, he died of a heart attack at the Chandler Residential Home. Cremated at Chapel of the Pines Cemetery in Los Angeles, after which his remains were shipped to Mt View Cemetery in Reno for burial with his wife..
