Betty Jane Putnam, age 87, of W. Sugar Street, Mount Vernon, passed away on Friday February 15, 2008 at Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon. She was born on March 26, 1920 in Beaver County, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Jessie (Hoeflich) Stitt. Betty worked at Knox Community Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and was active with the Station Break Senior Group.
She is survived by a son Edwin Ruhl of Howard, a daughter, Joan Magdich of Cincinnati, Ohio, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Lester Ruhl, second husband Orie Orsborn, third husband Roy F. Putnam and a brother, Ed Stitt.
A funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home where friends may call one hour prior. Rev. Jamie Gump will be officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
