He is listed as a Shoemaker, born in Penn. Moved to Nichols Oct 1862 and lived there from then on. 1870 lists him (54) as working in a shoeshop with Lucy M. (39), his 2nd wife. 1875 lists him (58) as a carpenter, born in MA, with Lucy (44) born in Broome Co. 1880 lists him (63) as a laborer, born in PA, with Lucy M. (49) born NY and parents from NY. Petitioned for his son’s war pension due to his poor health and the fact that his son was supporting him.

1900 census says he was born Nov. 1816 (83) born in PA., married 39 yrs, father b. Germany, mother b. England; renting a house. Wife Lucy M. born Sept 1830 (69) in NY, no children, father b. Conn, mother b. Mass. Also had a granddau, Lucy Brougham (Mar 1884, NY) living with them. His burial record says the funeral was ordered and charged to the H.A.M. Lodge (Mason's?)
