He is listed with his parents, age 34 in the 1880 census.
He married (2nd) Mary Wells on 30 Dec 1888 and lived in Knox Co, OH.
He is listed with his mother in 1900, as a day laborer, with his wife Mary and son Stanley (9).
Esther Calvin says he was caretaker for a large cemetery and lived in Bloomfield, Morrow Co, OH, where he is listed in 1910 as superintendent of the cemetery (62, OH) in South Bloomfield, with his wife Mary W. (48, PA) and son Stanley Wells Scarbrough (19, OH). They had been married 21 years, and it was his second marriage but her first.
Still living in Bloomfield in 1920 where he was a cemetery sexton (72, OH) with just his wife Mary W. (58, PA).

Willie (5) and Bell (2) are living with their mother Elizabeth Scarbrough (31 OH) in Wayne Twp, next to two SOCKMAN families in 1880. This would indicate that they were divorced and that Charlotte was going by her middle name, Elizabeth.

Listed in Morrow Co in 1910 and 1920 as Mary W. Scarbrough with her husband Amos.
Mrs. Scarbrough was the daughter of William C. and Elizabeth (Higbee) Wells, who lived near Grindstone, Fayette County, Penn., when she was born. Elizabeth died there in 1875, and William moved the family to Guernsey County, Ohio, where Mary married Amos M. Scarbrough, 30 Dec 1888.
Mary and Amos settled in Liberty Township, Knox County, Ohio, by 1890, when their son, Stanley Wells Scarbrough, was born. Stanley and Amos are also buried at Bloomfield Cemetery.
After her husband’s death in Knox Co in 1923, she is listed alone as head of household, a widow (68, PA).
Esther Calvin says they attended Bloomfield Methodist Church in Morrow Co OH, and that she was in ill health in 1936.
Mary died in a Columbus hospital, but her residence was still listed as Centerburg on her death certificate.
