[Obituary]
Lou Anna Wells, born October 14, 1875, in Illiopolis, Illinois, died April 27, 1940, in Bayard, Nebraska, at the age of 64 years, 6 months, and 14 days, after an illness of six weeks. A short memorial service was conducted in Bayard on April 28th, after which she was brought to Fairview, Oklahoma, for burial.
On May 4, 1898, she was united in marriage to John David Wells at Hutchinson, Kansas. To this union were born two children, Everett A. Wells of El Rena, Oklahoma, and Mrs. R.R. Vaughn of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In 1899 she united with the Church of God and was an active member. After leaving Fairview she continued her faith although she was unable to attend services regularly.
Immediately following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wells came to Major County, Oklahoma, and established a home on a farm, where they resided until 1921 when they moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 1927 they moved to Arkansas and later to Nebraska where they have been the last four years.
Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her departure her mother, Mrs. L. D. Bressler of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; four brothers: G. E. Walters of Belleville, Arkansas; H. E. Walters of Pacatello, Idaho; O. C. Walters of Watonga, Oklahoma; and C. O. Walters of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; and three sisters: Mrs. J. R. Morton of Fairview, Oklahoma; Mrs. Ralph Griffith of Hutchinson, Kansas; and Mrs. Leroy Lambert of Bayard, Nebraska; and a grandson, Roger Vaughn; and many other relatives and friends.

The land in Fairview, Oklahoma was homesteaded by John David Wells. There are also legal papers that show John's sister, Ravavah, being declared legally incompetent and being cared for by John. The land that she homesteaded (based on the land patent) was then put up for sale and John purchased it. There is an article of agreement relinquishing all rights to the land with signatures from his brothers and sisters---Achsah Jane Horton, Junius E Wells, Charles C Wells, and Emma Alice Long dated July 26, 1912.
