Listed as age 2 in 1860, then with his parents as age 10 in 1870.
He is listed in Zif Twp, Wayne Co, IL in 1880, after their father’s death, as a farmer (22, IN) with his sisters Amanda (20), Emma (14) and Rosa (11).
He was first married to Malinda Jane Brower in 1884, with whom he had two sons, William and Robert. They were apparently divorced around 1895, as both remarried just after that time.
He was re-married in 1897 to Elizabeth “Bettie” Brower (Malinda’s older sister), who had been previously married twice to a Bradley and Dever. In 1900 they are listed as married 3 yrs, with Robert listed as born Nov 1855 (IL), and Elizabeth in Feb 1852 (IN) with 4 of her 6 children living; all of whom were with them -
Gilbert Dever (15), Florence Dever (13), Frederick Dever (11) and Jasper Bradley (26) & son Oscar Bradley (2).
After his second wife died in 1909, he was married a third time to Lucy Webb in 1910, and is listed with her (29, IN) and her son from a first marriage, Roscoe Phillips (7, IN) as well as her father J. A. Webb (72, IN) in the 1910 census where Robert (45, IN) is listed as a farm laborer.
He has not been found in the 1920 census, although his wife was listed as widowed with her son in Mt Vernon, IN. And then Robert is also listed as widowed on his death certificate in 1925 in Posey Co, IN, with the information being provided by a Mrs. Wm V. Wilson rather than his wife.
