He is listed in 1880 census as Mowery, a farmer with his second wife Mary (25, OH) and children Lina A. (2, OH) and Eli (5 mos).
He and Mary are listed in the 1900 census, married 24 yrs, with Samuel listed as a farmer (Feb 1850, OH) and Mary (May 1854, OH). They list 8 of their 9 children as living, but the only ones at home were Arthur J (Aug 1884), Blanche M (Mar 1889), Walter H (Nov 1891) and Clayton I (Aug 1894).
He left the family and went west (well before the gold rush).
In 1910 Samuel Mowery (60, OH) and Mary (55, OH) are living with son Arthur, his wife Bertha and daughter Mildred M., where it lists Samuel & Mary as having 9 children. Aside from Arthur, only daughter Marie I. (9, OH) is listed with them.
He is listed as a farm laborer (69, OH) and widowed in 1920, on the Deen farm in Baca Co, CO. He was still there as Sam Mowry in 1930 working as farm labor (80, OH) and widowed on the McClintock farm. It says he was first married at age 26.

Mary is Marie Greene's aunt.
She was married to Samuel Mowry just after the birth of their daughter Alice in 1870, and is listed with Samuel (20, OH) as his wife (18, OH) in the census that year, living with his parents.
Daughter Alice was raised by Mary's parents until Mary was remarried to Frank O'Dowd a few years later in 1873, and then she lived with them.
She is listed in 1910 in Marion, OH, widowed as Mary M. O’Dowd (59, OH) with 9 of her 16 children living. With her is Adeline (34), Emily (33), Albert F. (30), Mary M. (22), Henry H. (19), and Frances L. (14).
She is still there in 1920, with Adda, Albert and Henry. Both sons are working for the railroad.

In 1920, Samuel had gone west and Mary is listed as head of household doing general housework (65, OH) and widowed. Living with her is daughter Marie (19, OH) divorced and also doing general housework. In the 1924 Mansfield city directory, she is listed as the widow of Samuel Mowry.
In 1940 she is listed with son Arthur’s family as widowed (85, OH). Arthur has his wife Bertha and children Florence and Clyde as well as his father-in-law Willis Clever living with him in addition to his mother.

Mrs. Mowry Dies at 92
Mrs. Mary Miller Mowry, 92, of 273 West Third street, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Ridenour, yesterday morning after a long illness. A lifelone resident of Richland county, Mrs. Mowry was born in Washington township May 27, 1854. She was a member of the Bellville Lutheran church. Surviving are nine children. Eli Miller Mowry, Bert Bud Mowry, Arthur James Mowry, Clarence Mowry, Waller Harold Mowrv, Clayton Irvin Mowry, Mrs. Lina Weaver, Mrs. Blanche Poorman and Mrs. Robert Ridenour. She is also survived hv 28 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Samuel Mowry, died in 1939. Services will be held at the Bellville Lutheran church at 2 p. m. Saturday in charge of Rev. John L. Timmerman. assisted by Carvel P. Mitchell of the First Lutheran church of Mansfield. Burial will be in the Bellville cemetery. The pallbearers, who are grandsons of Mrs. Mowry, are Delos Weaver, David Mowry of Innrie. ter, David Mowry of Dayton, Melvin Mowry, Robert Mowry and Charles Poorman.
