He enlisted in the military twice: 17 May 1946 - 4 May 1947 and 16 Aug 1950 - 22 Jan 1951
Strangely, it appears that Eugene (20, IN) is listed in the 1950 census for Indianapolis with a wife Barbara (20, IN) between his two Army enlistments, and before starting his family in California. He is listed as a driver for a Florist.
Even more strange is that higher on the page is Laverne M. Wells (39, IN) which would appear to be his mother... but she is listed alone as widowed
While in California after the Army, he had a family with Kathy Dodd, then was married to Gloria Cole in Ohio. He was apparently married to Gloria twice. It appears that they married initially about 1955, and then were remarried in 1974.

EDINBURGH - Eugene R. Wells, 62, of Jeffersonville, died at 5:40 a.m. Sunday, March 15, 1992, at Clark County Hospital in Jeffersonville.
He was an employee of the L.E. Meyers Co. at Jeffersonville and was a member of Southern Indiana RC Flying Club and Air Devils IMAA Chapter 285.
Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by Long Funeral Home, with Timothy McConnell officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
Mr. Wells was born May 4, 1929, in Indianapolis, the son of Ray and LaVerne Lawyer Wells. He married Gloria Mae Cole, June 10, 1974, she survives.
Additional survivors include daughters, Deborah Young of Columbus, Theresa Glass of Cincinnati, Vicki Smith of Jeffersonville, Karen Stanley of Dry Ridge, Ky., Delaina Roberts of Ona, Fla., and Jean Hancock of Charlestown; sons, Robert Wells of Jeffersonville and John Wells of Macon, Ga.; a brother, Donald Wells of Palm Harbor, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Wells, in 1987.

Services will be at 11 am Friday at Shackelford Funeral Home with burial in Milledgevilie Cemetery. She was a member of Victory Christian Fellowship Church. She leaves two daughters Stephanie Rosson of Morris Chapel and Carol Milson of Mentone Calif, a son Paul Reimche of Moreno Valley Calif, three sisters Darlene Duffieid of Ventura Calif and Pauline Buckingham and Ardeth White both of Rialto Calif, 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Survivors include six daughters, Debrah Young and Theresa Hupp, both of Columbus, Vicki Burton of Sellersburg, Karen Stanley of Bargersville, Delaina Roberts of Myaka City, Fla., and Jeanie Hancock of North Vernon; a son, Jon Wells of Columbus; 19 grandchildren; a sister, Gale Cole of Papua, New Guinea; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Cole Sr. and Patsie Ada Sexton; her husband, Eugene R. Wells; two sons; and a brother, Willard Cole Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Long Funeral Home in Edinburgh is handling arrangements.
